What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world. Every month, tens of thousands of amazing people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, film, art, technology, design, food, publishing and other creative fields.

A new form of commerce and patronage. This is not about investment or lending. Project creators keep 100% ownership and control over their work. Instead, they offer products and experiences that are unique to each project.

How Does Kickstarter work?

Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires or no money changes hands.  For example:  if you pledge $5 today, no money comes out of your account until my financial goal is reached, at which time you will receive an email letting you they’re gonna take the money out.

Why?

  1. 1.It's less risk for everyone. If you need $5,000, it's tough having $2,000 and a bunch of people expecting you to complete a $5,000 project.

  1. 2.It allows people to test concepts (or conditionally sell stuff) without risk. If you don't receive the support you want, you're not compelled to follow through. This is huge!

  1. 3.It motivates. If people want to see a project come to life, they're going to spread the word.

Pledge amounts for Surraeon are from $5 to $5K
